1. Who we are

wavreel ("we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered video creation tool available at https://vidmaker-ai.vercel.app. We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about what we do with it.

2. What data we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.

Audio files

When you use Cloud transcription, your audio file is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription. We do not store your audio file on our servers; it is sent directly to OpenAI and the transcript is returned to you.

When you use On-device transcription, your audio file is processed entirely within your browser. It never leaves your device and is never sent to any server.

Video rendering

Video rendering happens entirely in your browser. The final MP4 file is created on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.

Usage data

We may collect anonymised usage data (such as which features are used, error logs, and performance metrics) to improve the service. This data does not contain your audio, video, or transcript content.

Cookies and sessions

We use session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

3. How we use your data

To provide and operate the wavreel service.
To keep you logged in to your account.
To send important service emails (account confirmation, security alerts).
To improve the service using anonymised, aggregated data.
To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not use your audio or video content to train any AI models.

4. Third-party services

wavreel uses the following third-party services:

OpenAI (Whisper API) — Used for cloud transcription only, when you select "Cloud (Whisper API)" mode. Your audio is processed under OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
Pexels — We search the Pexels photo and video library using your scene's search terms. Search queries are sent to Pexels but your audio content is not. See Pexels Privacy Policy.
OpenRouter — Used to generate scene descriptions from your transcript using AI. Your transcript text is sent to OpenRouter. See OpenRouter Privacy Policy.
Google OAuth — If you choose "Sign in with Google", your sign-in is handled by Google. We receive only your name and email. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Vercel — wavreel is hosted on Vercel. Server access logs may include your IP address. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
Neon (Postgres) — Your account information is stored in a Neon-hosted database. See Neon's Privacy Policy.

5. Data retention

We retain your account information (name and email) as long as your account is active. Audio files processed via cloud transcription are not stored by us after the transcript is returned. You can delete your account at any time by contacting us at privacy@wavreel.com. We will delete your account data within 30 days.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data.
Object to or restrict processing of your data.
Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.

7. Children's privacy

wavreel is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on our website or sending you an email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
